Lesson 5
Anxiety disorders share physiology and differ by object and avoidance pattern. The differentiating question is always some version of: what exactly are you afraid will happen, and what do you avoid because of it?
Panic and the fear of fear
Panic disorder needs two things: terrifying surges that crest within minutes, arriving out of nowhere with pounding heart, air hunger, dizziness, unreality, or the conviction of dying, and a life colonized afterward by dread of the next attack, whether through worry or quiet rearrangement (skipping exercise, avoiding solo outings, hovering near hospitals).
Quiz now, while it is fresh. 8 questions, no timer.
1 of 8
Dev, 34, has had several abrupt surges of pounding heart, air hunger, and certainty he was dying, arriving out of nowhere at the grocery store and while watching TV. He has been to the ER twice, stopped exercising, and keeps his phone in hand in case he needs an ambulance. The diagnostic hinge pointing toward panic disorder is:
Build your own course with the Topic Genie, or pick from our ever-growing library of courses.
Four ideas from learning science, wrapped in something that feels like a game.
Every lesson opens with the shortcut an expert actually uses, then shows you why it works. You learn the move, not the memorization.
You work through real scenarios, choosing or typing the answer yourself. Retrieval builds memory; highlighting does not. Drills are untimed; the only clocks are the exam simulations you choose to start.
Miss something and it comes back tomorrow. Nail it and it waits a week, then two. Spaced repetition catches you right before you forget.
A chart of every day you studied, mastery filling in gold course by course, and a streak worth protecting. You can point at what you know now that you did not know last month.
A library that grows every time somebody makes a wish. Type what you want to learn. If the library is missing it, the Topic Genie builds it, and then everyone has it.
Try "I want to help clients with panic", "pass my nursing boards", or "stop being bad at percentages".
Topic Genie
Tell the Genie what you want to learn, what you already know, and what it is for. It writes the course while you watch, lesson by lesson: a few minutes for a small subject, longer for a big one. What lands in your app is a full course, with lessons, quizzes, and flashcards that join your review deck like any built-in topic.
During the beta, every new tester gets one free wish code to make their own course. The course is then yours to study, offline included, and three edits come free so you can tune what the Genie built until it fits.
Every granted wish goes in the Wish Library, a growing collection of learner-made courses that anyone can add to their app for free. One person's wish becomes everyone's course.
Every wish is checked for free before anything is used: if the Genie cannot grant it, your code comes back. All courses are written from scratch (no copyrighted material reproduced), and nothing sexual, explicit, or harmful gets built.

Who builds this
OmniTaught is developed by Michael C. Shedrick, M.S., PLPC, NCC: a teacher with a master's degree in educational leadership who went on to become a National Certified Counselor. Both jobs kept exposing the same problem: learning tools that stop at definitions. So OmniTaught teaches the working version of a subject, the part you actually use when the real thing is in front of you, and it teaches it the way memory works: a short lesson, a quiz while it is still fresh, and review that brings it back before you lose it.
Also from the same desk, in case they are useful: OmniPsyche Counseling Tools, which preps your next session and not just your notes; OmniPsyche.org, free mental health education with no paywall and no signup; and NOTICE, a free guided meditation app.
No card, no trial that quietly turns into a bill. Just the offer below, while the seats last.
Flashcard apps have the science but no content. Content sites have no retention engineering. This one has both, built one craft at a time.
Ten minutes a day. Start with the topic your work depends on, or the one that has bugged you since school.
Start learning freeStudy tools drill definitions. Exam prep expires. CE fades. OmniTaught is built to be the one that stays.
VS EXAM PREP
Exam apps charge hundreds of dollars for a few months of practice questions, and the access dies on exam day. OmniTaught covers the exam AND the clinical knowledge you need after it: recognition, meds, ethics, crisis. Passing is the beginning, not the end.
VS CONTINUING ED
Continuing education runs hundreds of dollars a course: six hours of video, a posttest, and nothing that ever brings it back. OmniTaught is the retention layer underneath: retrieval practice and spaced review that keep what you learned in reach in March, not just on the certificate date.
VS AI COURSE TOOLS
AI course generators are built for corporate trainers and priced as monthly software. The Topic Genie is built for the learner: your wish becomes a real course with quizzes and flashcards that join your review deck, and it works offline. Every wish grows the library for everyone.
